I travel for installs. Niacin is small on this bottle. I don't chase a flush. I keep it by the hymnals. I take it when I open the tackle box.

Fake supplement reviews often come from paid writers, hidden insiders, AI text or sites that pose as independent judges. The FTC announced a rule in August 2024 that bans fake and AI-written reviews and undisclosed insider reviews. A review is also not evidence that a product works.

The patterns01
Look for who gains from the praise, whether the writer was paid, and whether the site is truly independent.
| Sign | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Only praise, all of one tone | Real feedback is mixed; a rule bans paying for reviews of a set sentiment |
| Writer is tied to the seller | Insider reviews without disclosure are banned |
| "Independent" site with a buy button | Company-controlled sites posing as neutral judges are banned |
| Generic, repeated phrases | May be AI-written text, which the rule also covers |
| Bad reviews missing | Hiding or suppressing reviews is covered too |
The law02
It bans fake and AI-generated reviews, fake celebrity endorsements and paying for reviews of a set sentiment.
The FTC announced the final rule on August 14, 2024. It also covers undisclosed insider reviews, company sites posing as independent reviewers, review suppression and buying fake followers. The FTC can seek civil penalties against knowing violators (FTC, Final rule banning fake reviews).
The FTC's endorsement guidance adds that a paid influencer must clearly disclose the payment, and that incentives tied to positive reviews can make reviews deceptive (FTC, Endorsement Guides: what people are asking).
A second problem03
No. A single story cannot show a capsule caused the change.
Sleep, stress, caffeine and the wish to feel better all move how sharp a day feels. The FTC says testimonials alone are not enough to back a health claim; randomized human trials are the expected standard (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).
Use reviews to learn about shipping, support and taste. Use studies and a doctor to judge health effects.

I teach, then I commute. Gym is separate. This is not a pre-workout. I keep it in the tackle box. I take it when the ferry horn goes.

I keep a workshop in the garage. I take blood-pressure tablets. Showed the bottle. They said keep theirs. I keep it on the sewing table. I take it after I start the mixer.

FAQ05
Yes, and the FTC's 2024 rule covers AI-generated reviews. Signs include generic wording, repeated phrases across many accounts and praise that names no real detail such as delivery, packaging or how long the person used the product.
Not by themselves. Ratings can be gamed, and they measure satisfaction, not whether the product worked. A page with only perfect scores and no mixed feedback deserves extra doubt, especially on a site that sells the product.
You can report deceptive reviews to the FTC through its online complaint process, and to the store or platform that hosts the review. Keep a screenshot and the date of the page.
