Dose of Brain Supplements: Why Milligrams and Grams Are Not the Same
The dose of brain supplements decides whether a study applies. VapoCept lists L-arginine at 200 mg, which is 5% of the 4,000 mg lowest blood pressure trial dose. Those trials measured blood pressure, not memory, so the label amount and the studied amount are far apart.

Dose basics01
Why does dose matter more than the ingredient name?
Because a study result only applies to the amount that was tested.
The FTC says research on a different dose or formulation may not transfer to a product (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance). A name on a label tells you what is present, and the milligrams tell you how much.
Arithmetic02
How big is the gap between milligrams and grams?
One gram is 1,000 mg, and the studies below use grams.
| Line | Label (as listed) | Studied | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| L-arginine | 200 mg | 4,000 mg or more (Dong 2011, Oral L-arginine and blood pressure meta-analysis) | 5% |
| L-citrulline malate | 100 mg | 8,000 mg usual exercise dose (Citrulline, perceived exertion and soreness meta-analysis (2020)) | 1.3% |
| Beta-alanine | 40 mg | 4,000 mg or more (NIH ODS, Exercise and athletic performance (health professional)) | 1% |
These studies measured blood pressure or exercise, not memory or focus.
The bottle03
Where do you find the dose on a supplement bottle?
On the Supplement Facts panel, as an amount per serving.
No label image was supplied to us, so the seven amounts here are as listed in the brand's panel. The serving size is not shown in the files we have, so check your bottle. Tap a numbered spot to see more.

- 'CLINICAL MEMORY RESTORATION'
The largest claim on the bottle render. No trial of VapoCept was found, so it is quoted here, not repeated. See the claims page.
- 'FOCUS | CLARITY | ENERGY'
Three words between two copper rules. No number or study stands behind them on the bottle.
- '30 CAPSULES - DIETARY SUPPLEMENT'

Does a small dose mean no risk?
No. A small dose lowers some risks but does not remove them for everyone.
Anyone on blood pressure medicine, nitrates, blood thinners or erectile dysfunction medicine should ask a pharmacist first. Our dose math page shows all seven lines. The sales page is the only place we point to.

FAQ05
VapoCept questions people ask
What is the right dose for brain supplements?
No source we found sets a right dose for memory or focus. The directions listed to us for VapoCept are one capsule daily with 8 oz of water. Do not exceed the amount on your bottle.
Is a higher dose of a brain supplement better?
Not necessarily, and more can bring more risk. Arginine and citrulline can affect blood pressure at gram doses, and beta-alanine can cause tingling from about 800 mg. Follow the bottle and ask a pharmacist.
Why do studies use grams but labels use milligrams?
Trials of arginine, citrulline and beta-alanine tested gram amounts for blood pressure or exercise. Many labels list much less. A study result cannot be assumed to apply at a fraction of the studied dose.
