Brain Supplement Scams: Four Patterns and How to Spot Them
Brain supplement scams usually use four tricks: a famous face that never endorsed the product, a study of a different ingredient, fake reviews, and repeat charges hidden in checkout. The FTC bans fake reviews and expects honest endorsements. VapoCept has no celebrity claim here, and no subscription is listed.

The playbook01
What are the most common brain supplement scams?
Four patterns repeat: borrowed fame, borrowed science, borrowed praise and buried terms.
| Pattern | Quick check |
|---|---|
| Famous face on an ad | Look at the person's own channels |
| Study of another ingredient or dose | Ask for the paper and the dose |
| Unnamed or paid reviews | Look for disclosure and a real name |
| Trial offer that repeats the charge | Read the checkout terms |
Pattern one02
Is a celebrity endorsement of a brain supplement real?
Often not. A real endorsement must be honest and the person must have actually used the product.
The FTC says a paid endorser has to disclose the payment clearly, and an endorsement cannot make a claim the advertiser could not make itself (FTC, Endorsement Guides: what people are asking).
Pattern two03
How do you spot a fake or misleading study claim?
Check whether the study tested this product at this dose.
The FTC says evidence on one ingredient may not support a claim about a combination, a different extract or another dose (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance). A study using grams says little about a capsule with milligrams.
Patterns three and four04
Are brain supplement reviews and trial offers trustworthy?
Read how the reviewer is named, and read the checkout before you pay.
A 2024 FTC rule bans fake and AI-generated reviews and undisclosed insider reviews (FTC, Final rule banning fake reviews). For terms, look for repeat shipments or a "trial" that converts to a purchase. The VapoCept files list no subscription, but confirm at checkout.

How does the VapoCept wording measure against these patterns?
The front wording is the seller's claim, and no source we found supports it.
- Bottle render“CLINICAL MEMORY RESTORATION”No trial of VapoCept was found, and none of its seven lines has been shown to restore memory at these amounts. 'Clinical' is not a test result. (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance) (NCCIH, 7 things to know: supplements and cognitive function)
- Bottle render“FOCUS | CLARITY | ENERGY”Three words, no number. Caffeine and sleep change focus; none of these lines is shown to at 40 to 200 mg. (NCCIH, 7 things to know: supplements and cognitive function)
- Sales page, per the brand's information“Daily mental clarity”A support phrase. The amino acids here are studied for blood vessels and exercise, not clarity, and in grams. (Dong 2011, Oral L-arginine and blood pressure meta-analysis) (Citrulline, perceived exertion and soreness meta-analysis (2020))
- Dose check“200 mg arginine”About 5% of the 4,000 mg a day at the low end of blood pressure trials (4,000 to 24,000 mg). (Dong 2011, Oral L-arginine and blood pressure meta-analysis)
- Dose check“100 mg citrulline”About 1.7% of the 6,000 mg a day at the low end of citrulline studies (6,000 to 8,000 mg); both citrulline lines together are 200 mg. (Citrulline, perceived exertion and soreness meta-analysis (2020))
- Common question“Can it replace my medicine?”No. Keep prescribed medicine. Supplements used in place of medicines are a common route to harm, says NIH. (NIH ODS, Dietary supplements: what you need to know)
- Context“It worked for me”A single story cannot show a capsule did it: sleep, stress, caffeine, a busy week or the wish to feel better all move how sharp a day feels. (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance)
Claims as printed on the label. Health claims need competent and reliable scientific evidence, generally human trials of the same product (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).

FAQ07
VapoCept questions people ask
How can I tell if a brain supplement ad is fake?
Look for a famous face with no source, a quote you cannot trace and a study of a different ingredient. Real endorsements are disclosed and traceable on the person's own accounts.
Are celebrity brain supplement ads real?
Many are not. The FTC says endorsements must be honest and reflect real use, with payment disclosed. Check the person's official channels.
What should I do if a brain supplement charged me again?
Contact the seller with your order ID and ask your card issuer about the repeat charge.
Is a free trial of a brain supplement safe?
Read the fine print first. A free or low-cost trial can convert to a full-price purchase or a repeat shipment unless you cancel in time.
