BDNF Brain Supplement Claims: Where They Outrun the Research

What is BDNF and why do supplements mention it?
BDNF is a protein in the body linked to nerve cell health, and sellers mention it because it sounds scientific.
We cite no BDNF study. No source we found shows that any VapoCept line changes BDNF in people. A claim about BDNF is a step removed from anything a shopper can feel or measure.
The FTC says research on one ingredient may not support a claim about a finished product (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance).

Do supplements raise BDNF?
We found no cited study showing that any VapoCept ingredient raises BDNF in people. Claims about BDNF often rest on lab or animal work, which does not show an effect in daily life.
Does arginine increase BDNF?
No source we cite tests that. Arginine studies cover blood pressure and exercise at grams a day. VapoCept lists 200 mg of L-arginine, about 5% of the lowest blood pressure trial dose of 4,000 mg.
Is BDNF the same as memory?
No. BDNF is a protein measured in research, while memory is what a person does. A change in a marker does not prove a change in memory, and that is why claims need a trial.
